The PLM-24 < > RS-485 Gateway is intended to be used with our PLM-24 Power Line Modem and
lets you branch your PLM-24 network to twisted pair cables (RS-485). You are able to connect up to
31 additional nodes (254 with special drivers) on the twisted pair cable and they will all be part of the
PLM-24 network. Maximum length of the twisted pair cable is 1200 meters. The average cost of a simple
RS-485 node is very small so you will be able to expand your network even if you are on a budget! All
data sent on the power lines by other PLM-24 Power Line Modems will be routed to the RS-485 net
and vice versa.
It is provided with jumper select able termination and bias resistors to suit different applications and the
onboard power supply are able to supply power to low-power RS-485 nodes. If your RS-485 nodes
demands more power an external power source can be selected with a jumper. Outputs for status LED's
indicating data traffic on both power line and RS-485 network, this is useful during setup and for fault
finding.
The PCB is designed to fit in a standard plastic case available from several different manufacturers with
or without AC plugs according to the standards of different countries.

The PLM-24 < > RS-485 Gateway Kit includes a professional made double-sided, plated through,
solder masked and silk screened printed circuit board. All required components, printed manual that
contains assembling instructions, part list, complete schematics and basic setup examples for both
peer-to-peer and master/slave networks.
